BBC Weather

The 13 day forecast for Oxford produced by the BBC in association with the Meteo Group. Type in the post code for a walk to get that local forecast.

Met Office – UK weather forecast

The weather forecast direct from the UK Met Office for the next 7 days.

Met Office – Cloud cover map and forecast

The images are derived from data provided by geostationary satellites (i.e. they remain above a fixed point on the Earth). The satellites take images using sunlight reflected back from clouds, land and sea surfaces and also infrared radiation emitted from clouds, land and sea surfaces. Current website shows 2 days of history and 5 days of forecast.

Met Office – Rainfall radar map and forecast

These images rely primarily on radar observations. Current website shows 2 days of history and 5 days of forecast.

Home and Dry Phone App

Some members use a phone app called Home and Dry which can be downloaded from the usual place that you get your apps from. This provides short term forecasts of rain based on radar data. There is a charge for the app. Sample screen shown on the right.
