About OFS

  • organises a regular programme of walks throughout the year to ensure that the paths are used
  • works with Oxfordshire County Council to maintain and improve rights of way
  • provides financial assistance for the improvement of rights of way
  • makes representation to and cooperates with the appropriate local authorities and other amenity groups on path monitoring
  • reports obstructions on rights of way to the County Council and monitors progress in removing them
  • submits claims with documentary evidence for additions to the Definitive Map of Rights of Way
  • considers all proposals for alterations of rights of way, resisting change where possible unless there is significant public benefit and where possible negotiating mitigation measures thereafter
