Who does what?

The OFS is a charity run by volunteers. Throughout the year we run walks once or twice a week.

Committee

The committee deals with the adminstration of the organisation through a number of officers. The current list of officers show who is reponsible for each facet of the organisation. The committee needs to be populated by people with the time and the skills to contribute. Please review the list of roles that make up the way we are organised. If you would like to help with this work and might be willing to help by taking on a role or part of a role, please contact the chairperson, Jenny Byrne by email on .

Walks team

Each walk is planned, documented, checked and lead by one of our large team of volunteers. You can find out what is involved in leading one of our walks at this link. We can never have too many people in our team of people leading walks. If you would willing to host a walk, perhaps initially in an area that you know well, then please get in touch with Liz Adams by email on .

District Secretaries

District Secretaries report footpath problems on the Society’s behalf. They respond to requests for diversions and check for possible claims for new footpaths. Most of the relevant documents for checking claims are in the County Records Office or the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies. A report of such activities is made in the Annual report each year. The report for 2023-2024 is here.

Each of the five areas of the county is under a separate responsibility and those members who undertake these roles are part of the committee. If you are interested in helping with any aspect of these activities, please get in touch with the chairman, Jenny Byrne by email on .
