Meet at Wantage, Manor Road Memorial Car Park, Manor Road (free). A walk from the book ‘Milestones to Millstones’ by Elaine Steane, with many interesting features. From Manor Road, Wantage we pass the Market Square, King Alfred’s statue and Wessex Flour Mill, a working roller mill, then walk to the spring-line villages of Letcombe Regis and Letcombe Bassett and climb to the Ridgeway, returning via Letcombe Regis. This is a joint walk with the Ramblers. Picnic or café stop at Courthill Centre on Ridgeway around lunch time. Some walking in Wantage with crossings, and on minor roads with fast traffic, with a short stretch on A338. Assistance dogs only. Buses from Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot and Letcombe Regis.
