Walks Programme

Perhaps the best known activity of the Oxford Fieldpaths Society is the organisation of a programme of walks. Ranging in distance from four to ten miles, and gentle to moderate in pace (approximately 2-2.5 miles per hour) these circular walks are a delightful way to share with others an enjoyment of the varied Oxfordshire countryside - including the Chilterns, the Cotswolds, the Downs, the Thames - through the changing seasons.

Led by volunteers, walks are held on Saturdays or Sundays and also midweek. Some last for just the morning or the afternoon, others the whole day, with a break for a pub or picnic lunch; the occasional figure-of-eight offers the choice of two short walks or one long. A series of evening walks is arranged in the summer in and around Oxford, and the annual day walk, which takes place outside Oxfordshire, usually in September, is a popular event. Longer residential walking holidays are also occasionally organised in areas such as Wales or the south coast of England. Full details of each walk, including the meeting point and distance to be covered, are published in the programme which is sent out to members in March and September.

Whilst every effort is taken to make these walks as safe as possible walkers take part entirely at their own risk and OFS can assume no responsibility
