You will need to book a place on the walk with the leader by phoning them. Bookings will open at 9am 2 days before the walk.

A walk with views of the Cornbury Estate, through the Wychwood Forest, the Wychwood villages of Finstock and Chilson and then returning to Charlbury on the Oxfordshire Way. Meet in Abingdon Rye Farm Car Park. This is a mid-summer’s evening walk. Past Kingfisher Barn and footpath joining the River Thames. Then crossing the river and Abingdon Lock and following the path around Abbey Meadows. We will then see the Abbey Gardens and the the Cosener’s House. Into town and over the bridge to the Nags Head pub for end of walk refreshments as this is close to the Rye Farm Car Park. Dogs on leads. Buses 35 and X13 from Oxford and X2 from Didcot. Meet at Nuffield - the Holy Trinity Church. Small parking area to east of the church (donations welcome), or, if necessary, park thoughtfully along the road (but not in front of the church). From Nuffield we soon make our way for one and three-quarters miles on a lovely wooded section of the Ridgeway which runs alongside the ancient earthworks of Grim’s Ditch. We then join the Chiltern Way through Wicks Wood to Hailey, where we take a track up through Boxmoor Wood, eventually turning north through farmland to return to Nuffield.
