New walks leaders needed

The task of leading walks for OFS is falling on an ever decreasing number of members. For each six month period there are 26 weekends so if there is to be a walk at the weekend as well as one midweek then more leaders are needed so that 50 walks can be offered, it is not fair to ask a small number of leaders to be leading a walk every month in order for there to be a full programme. Meet at Ascott Earl, Shipton Road (NW of the church in Ascott-under-Wychwood). This walk is from Elaine Steane’s new book Milestones to Millstones. Following the Evenlode to Ascott’s mill and then to Chadlington’s watermill. On return visiting Shorthampton Church with its medieval wall paintings. Bring refreshments and picnic lunch. A circular walk through Chiltern beech woods, to Homefield Nature Reserve where there is a large selection of rare orchids. Walking through a tunnel under the lawns of Danesfield House, passing the old Hurley Flash Lock and then back to Ferry Lane. Bring a picnic. Possible break at end of walk by river. Meet in Grenoble Road at the intersection of the bridleway labelled Roman Road, located approx. 600 metres from the junction of Grenoble Road and the B480 Cowley –Watlington Road. A circular walk that goes up to and through Garsington along the Green Belt Way, returning via a Roman Road bridleway.
