Sunday 1st 10am SU392813 9 miles Meet at Fawley village green, south of Wantage. Car sharing is possible from Water Eaton park and ride at 8.45am. A literary walk, taken at a leisurely pace, entitled "In the Footsteps of Jude the Obscure". To the Letcombes passing landmarks of Hardy’s novel with some short readings from the book. Pub lunch en route. Sorry no dogs. Elaine Steane 01865 552531 Tuesday 3rd The Annual London Outing Meeting at Thornhill park and ride, Headington to catch the Oxford Tube to London Victoria. A 4.5 mile walk from Victoria to Southwark Cathedral along the South Bank, passing places of interest along the way including the London Eye at Westminster, Tate Modern, The Millennium Bridge and the Globe. Bring a picnic or there are plenty of places to have lunch. Returning from Bank Side to London Eye by water taxi (cost about £5.30). Then walking back to Victoria to catch the Oxford Tube. Numbers limited. To join this outing you must contact the leaders in advance to book a place. Some on-street parking (restricted time limits) also pay-and-display car parks in the town. A scenic Cotswold walk to Bourton-on-the-Hill, Blockley and Batsford. A few hills. A circular walk to Rowleigh, Cothill and Great Park. Sorry no dogs. Pub stop at the end of the walk. Parking signposted for walkers on the right hand side of the drive going up to the golf course. A circular walk via Chiswell Valley, Chiswell Farm, Youlbury Wood. Meals available afterwards. You need to book with the leader prior to the walk. Mavis 01865 361543 Sunday 15th 10am SU424881 7 miles Meet at the car park in Lockinge, opposite the Ardington road junction. A fairly gentle climb to the Ridgeway Path, following a level section then descending back to Lockinge estate village. Please take your own refreshments for an en route break. Use pub car park if staying for lunch otherwise park considerately in the village. A circular walk taking in the escarpment of the Chiltern Hills. Going via Cowleaze Wood, Langleygreen Plantation and Beacon Hill with its views over the Vale. Pub lunch afterwards. # Oxford Tube service from Gloucester Green bus station. Alight at Lewknor Turn, then short walk to the village. Jim Parke 01865 730664 Tuesday 24th 10am SP312346 8 miles Meet at Whichford church, please park carefully nearby near the Green. A hilly walk to Brailles and to see the Cathedral of the Fields parish church. Possible pub stop in Brailles. The return will be via Groves End below Brailles Hill, to Sutton-under-Brailles and onto the Stour valley back to Whichford. Please bring refreshments for an en route break. Please bring a picnic Pub stop possible at Sunningwell. # Buses nos. X2 X3 X13 from Oxford or Abingdon. Jeff Lampert 01235 534000 Monday 30th Bank Holiday Monday Summer Social and Picnic at Kirtlington Village Hall. The idea is for a "Bring-and-Share" meal after the walks, using the facilities of the village hall and sports field. Please bring food and drink to the hall at 2pm. Walks will start soon after: Walk one - 4 miles led by Lew Gammon at a leisurely pace and Walk two - 6 miles led by Elizabeth Adams at a moderate pace. 4.45pm to 6.45pm buffet and social in the village hall.
